A Legacy for Education: Pat and Shannon Clevenger

Pat and Shannon Clevenger

Pat and Shannon Clevenger believe in the philosopy of helping others. The adage Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime resonates with them.

“We support the mission of North Idaho College in providing a full range of education to help students find a career,” Pat says. “Shannon and I strongly believe education helps people build the confidence and skills to be productive in our communities.”

High school sweethearts, Pat and Shannon met and married in Lewiston. As newlyweds, Pat studied at the University of Idaho and Shannon earned her degree from Lewis-Clark State College. The couple moved to the Coeur d’Alene area in 2010 with their two children.

Pat’s first connection to North Idaho College came in 1989 when he attended youth wrestling camp. He went on to compete in wrestling during high school, placing in state and tri-state tournaments.

It was during his college years studying mechanical engineering that Pat discovered his interest and abilities in financial planning through an internship with Northwestern Mutual. He completed his engineering degree, but quickly transitioned to a new career in financial planning. Now a wealth management advisor for Packard Wheeler Succession, he works with businesses to prepare for leadership transitions.

The family is active in the community, including the Kootenai Girls Softball Association. Pat has served on the NIC Foundation Board of Directors since 2011.

Pat and Shannon have chosen to continue their support of North Idaho College in future years through their estate plan. “A planned gift is building for the future,” they say. “You can give what you can now, leave enough for your children, and give the rest to help others. A legacy gift will have a positive impact on the community when we are gone in ways we’ll never know.”

Pat and Shannon have joined an honorable circle of North Idaho College supporters as members of the NIC Foundation’s Legacy Society. Membership in the Legacy Society is as simple as designating North Idaho College Foundation as a beneficiary of your will, trust, life insurance or retirement account.
